A place to eat, read, spend leisure time, play, enjoy and again. That is what we designed in our proposal for Canteen and Library building for the LiangMeng school complex. In a modest and traditional way with emphasis on traditions from outside verified by local people for many years but with inner flexibility. The organization of space is open, situated around core in the middle but it can be easily separated by paravans or some movable walls. Terrace with view to the waley provides nice and calm place for reading and thinking. We did not want the canteen to be used only for pupils having lunch but it can be easily adaptable as an additional space for library, for workshops, any cultural events and to become a living room for the whole community.
This building can live from morning till evening....and again.
